Growth Group Homework & Discussion

For The Week of March 18, 2018

This weekend we focused on “understanding the difference between Law and Grace”. It is very easy to say we are saved by Grace and never live a life fueled by Grace. Many Christian know they are under grace but they live their lives daily by law. Until you live by grace you will not experience the life that God intends for you.

2. Emphasize that because of what Jesus did on the cross we live under GRACE and not law

3. Help members understand the difference between living under the law and living under GRACE.

Group Discussion

  1. What is liberating Grace and how does it relate to legalism and perfectionism?

  1. Our inability to obey the law brought us under a curse, but we learned that the New Testament believer is redeemed from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). Is it possible to be living in this dispensation of grace and still live by self-effort? Give examples

  1. Discuss what it means to live by grace and not by the law using the following scriptures:
    • Romans 7:1-6;
    • Galatians 4:1-6; Romans 8:14 (read together)
    • Galatians 3:3
    • Galatians 5:16

Ask God to help you continue your Christian journey in obedience to the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Romans 7:6; Galatians 3:3) and not the use of self-effort.
