For The Week of November 11, 2018

This weekend we continued with our biographical study of the book of Esther. We saw Esther who was “taken” into the harem of the palace, an environment where things that happened were beyond one’s control. But God worked through these situations beyond her control and she emerged victoriously. It is my sincere prayer that you don’t give up on any situation that is beyond your control because YOUR GOD is working it out.
Group Discussion
  1. The young women of Susa knew this wasn’t a beauty contest they had a choice to enter or not. Traditionally, if you were not chosen as the queen you will become a concubine for life. Yet God was working through this situation beyond Esther’s control. What happened to Esther, and how was God with her according to Esther 2:9, 15, 17?
  2. According to Esther 2:12-15, the women prepared for 12 months before their turn. They could ask for whatever beauty treatments they needed before seeing the king.
    1. What do you think each woman asked for before seeing the king?
    2. Why did Esther not ask for anything extra but only what Hegai suggested?
  1. Discuss the four(4) traits we learn from Esther that are critical for victory when we are plunged into situations beyond our control?
Prayer Time
Pray that God will give us the ability to cultivate the traits needed to in situations we cannot control.
